About Felles Fjellrev

Felles Fjellrev was initially started up in 2010. The project carried on until 2013 with such good results that it also continued throughout 2014. The project was then restarted in 2016 and continued until 2019.

A number of different initiatives in communication and at many other levels were carried out in the field during this last period. Now it’s time for a new round of projects that will run until October 2026.

Our project work includes research on diseases, testing a range of different feeds and raising the level of awareness of Arctic foxes. Besides continuing the important work on feeding, we will, for example, develop a method for screening Arctic fox droppings for a range of diseases that could affect the population. This will enable us to react quickly if infections begin to spread.
We will also raise the level of awareness of the Arctic fox – and emphasise how hikers in the mountains can help them by never leaving behind litter or food scraps. That could attract red foxes that could out-compete the Arctic fox for their dens.
